“I’d love to create a certification but I’m worried about how much time it’s going to take”
I get it. You are already busy! And the thought of creating something new makes you want to curl up under the covers and hide. You don’t feel like you have the time OR the energy to do this.
Now here’s the thing… I’m not going to sugar coat it and say ‘it wont take any time at all to do this’ BUT I will say that it’s probably less time than you think.
Let’s break it down:
The first step is strategy – we need to map out all aspects of your certification or licensing program to make sure it’s the best program possible. We do this through my 9 step certification framework that I use with my clients.
If we were to work together in my Ready, Set, Certify program, which starts in January, this would require 2-3 hours of work each week from you – most of which is thinking and decision-making time alongside training and office hours with me to ask questions and get feedback. This adds up to about 20ish hours total over 8 weeks.
If we did my 1-1 Certification Accelerator, where we map out your certification in a day, that would require about 6 hours of your time in total – because I’m doing most of the heavy lifting there before and after our day together to get everything mapped out for you.
Respectfully, If you try to do this part on your own you could end up spending months or even years (!!) spinning on everything.
What should my certification be about? What do I include in the training? Who is a good fit for the program? What do I charge? How do I protect my stuff and what do I do if someone messes up and misrepresents my brand? Do I charge a yearly renewal fee? What happens after folks are certified? Should I do live training? What should my testing process be?
You get the point… it’s a lot to think about, and I dare say you will spend a lot more time spinning your wheels on this than you ever would diving in and doing the work with me.
Especially when we consider how long this might delay you even getting started… I know some of you reading this have been talking about creating a certification for a long time now and it hasn’t happened yet.
Welp, here we are at the end of 2024… will you be in the same place – thinking about it – at this time next year?
I may be biased, of course, but my vote is heck no – let’s get the ball rolling now, baby! Click here for details on working together.
So what happens after the strategy piece? The next step is curriculum development, and I share more about the time required in part 2.
