I’m loving The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John Maxwell and am going to post once per day for 21 days for each law.
Law 1 – The Law of the Lid
Leadership ability determines a person’s level of effectiveness. This law states that an organization can never grow beyond the effectiveness of it’s leader.
“The greater the impact you want to make the greater your influence [leadership] needs to be.”
We can be successful to a point without leadership – with just pure grit, determination and hard work. And then we get stuck there and continued growth becomes MUCH harder. Working harder and pushing more is no longer effective and it takes too much effort to keep growing. <– now that hits home for me, you?
Now the good news is that we can learn to raise our leadership ability – yay!
I’m curious how you see The Law of the Lid playing out for you? Where do you feel like this has helped or hindered your growth?
